Comparing Yourself to Who You Were Yesterday Is Pretty Toxic Too

If you’re competing with yourself, you aren’t seeing the bigger picture

People tell you not to compare yourself to others.

You know the spiel.

We don’t start at the same point so it wouldn’t be a fair comparison. What’s easy for one person could be difficult for another. Some are super privileged — they’re born into opportunities we couldn’t even fathom.

So instead, people tell you to compare yourself to who you were yesterday.

But comparing ourselves to who we were can be equally as toxic.

I’m not sure who needs to hear this but you are not in a competition with your former self.

You’re on the same team, dammit!

The Unhealthy Yet Constant Pressure To Improve

Life is a hell of a ride.

Some days you’re on top of it, and other days, it’s on top of you. It’s good that we want to level up. But to force ourselves to work harder than we did the day before, well, that’s a fool’s errand.

And guess what? There are a lot of fools out there — I used to be one of them.
